GLA Participates in Moroccan Land Conference

Global Land Alliance (GLA) participated in the international conference organized by Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The conference took place on February 22 and 23, 2023 in Rabat and was focused on the findings and recommendations of an in-depth report about the issues of land division. This study was part of a larger MCC-financed project that aimed at supporting the development of a land management strategy (including a strategy and action plan) and the coordination mechanisms to monitor and evaluate the implementation of such strategy.

GLA contributed eight (8) case studies of countries in Europe and the Americas that have applied different approaches to the issues of minimal exploitation surface and division of real property arising from family relations or contracts. David F. Varela and Safiya El-Ghmari (co-authors of the case studies) joined the discussion on behalf of GLA. Malcolm Childress, Kevin Barthel, Cynthia Berning and Christen Corcoran also participated in this assignment.
