Urban Maryland Land Trust Preserved through Agricultural Easement

Early this year, a very special, Montgomery County Maryland, resident passed away at the age of 98. Charlie Koiner spent his entire life farming in the county and his urban farm in downtown Silver Spring was established in 1979. Susan Kenedy has the story

The Charles Koiner Center for Urban Farming (CKC), a local land trust dedicated to protecting urban land for the purpose of agriculture and education run by Global Land Alliance Associate Hannah Sholder and partner Kate Medina. The Montgomery County Council shared the above story of its origins and recent successes in sustaining the trust.

Global Land Alliance is proud and happy for the work GLA's Hannah Sholder, Kate Medina and the Montgomery County and Maryland Environmental community have done to preserve this for 500 years through an agriculture easement.
